Here are a few tips and tidbits I think every bride should know:
Preparing for the Wedding Day...
When creating the timeline for your big day...always check with your photographer regarding your "ready time," as they decide what time to start taking pictures. ( I request this info at time of booking so that I can plan our day accordingly).
Who creates the schedule for my bridal party's makeup? I do! Once I know how many applications and the ready time. I take it from there! I will send you a schedule to review and confirm prior to the day of. I do ask that you tell the bridal party to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their appointment time.
When searching for pictures of makeup looks you envision for your wedding day style...look for photos of models who share the same physical characteristics that you have. i.e. If you have blonde hair; find styles with blonde hair. If you are brunette, search for pictures of models with brunette hair. Same goes for eye color.
Where should you look online for pics? Check out The Knot or Pinterest
How far in advance should you meet with your artist for a trial run? I recommend at least 6 weeks prior to your wedding(usually done on the day of your bridal or engagement pictures). But, also if we decide to meet again or try another style; there is plenty of time to do so.
Have a favorite lipstick? Bring it to your trial run. If you don't, I can recommend a color and suggest purchasing one from your favorite store for touch ups after the ceremony and during the reception! If you cannot find it, let me know and I would be happy to order one for you.
Should you go to the tanning bed or get a spray tan the day before your wedding? I am definitely an advocate for spray or airbrush tanning rather than the tanning bed, but recommend not trying it out for the first time a week or 2 before.
Should I get facial waxing the week of your wedding? This is another one of those "if you've never done it before..." I recommend having your waxing done 7-10 days before your wedding and letting me take care of any "strays" the day of.
Should you get a facial treatment the week of your wedding/trial run? No, I don not recommend facials within 7 days of makeup application, however, an exfoliation treatment is very helpful about 5 days before.
What kind of products do you use? I usually use a mixture of brands, such as Smashbox, MAC, IT Cosmetics, Urban Decay combined with a few drugstore brands, such as NYX. However, I am not limited to my products. If there is a certain brand that you would like me to use, just let me know and I would be happy to accommodate your request.
Do you do airbrush makeup? Yes! I use a silicon base formula from Temptu. If you are allergic to silicon, there is also a water based formula. It is smudge proof, water proof, and transfer resistant. This is my favorite to use on brides.
Be sure and wear sunscreen!! I can cover awkward tan lines...but they can never be completely covered so sunscreen is the way to go!
I recommend carrying your wedding dress, bridesmaids dress, or wedding outfit ON the plane with you! If your luggage gets lost; it is easier to find a new pair of shoes than desperately hunting down your dress!!
The big day has arrived!!
* Prepare everything you need the night before, so you are not rushed in the morning.
* Try not to drink too much alcohol, if any, the night before. I can sometimes make you look "puffy". If you do, make sure to drink plenty of water too.
* Clean and moisturize your face in the morning. Arrive with no makeup on.
Hand over the phone...to your maid of honor or a bridesmaid that is! One of the most stressful things for a bride on the day of is the last minute calls or texts from friends, family or even vendors. Pick someone you trust and let them deal with it! That way you can sit back, relax and be pampered without interruption. Savor the last moments of calmness...because when the dress goes on; it's show time!!
